Why Marvel Doesn’t Give Mark Ruffalo Full Movie Scripts

By now everyone has watched video of Mark Ruffalo completely giving away the ending of Avengers: Infinity War almost a year before its release. It turns out, just because we didn’t hear about the Hulk actor getting into trouble last year — because he definitely did for accidentally livestreaming Thor: Ragnarok — doesn’t mean he hasn’t experience any consequences. He’s no longer permitted to see Marvel Studios scripts.

In a special event sponsored Wednesday in Washington, D.C., by the Smithsonian Associates, the educational programming branch of the Smithsonian, directors Joe and Anthony Russo answered questions about Infinity War. Among their insider revelations around the biggest film in the world was the acknowledgment that, yes, they did see Ruffalo’s appearance last year on Good Morning America, when he told the interviewer that “everybody dies!”

Joe Russo said that, as a result, the actor doesn’t no longer is given complete scripts. That way he can’t let slip any big secrets during press junkets. Of course, then one has to wonder if that means Bruce Banner isn’t included in Avenger 4‘s big reveals.

Check back later for CBR’s full report of the Russo brothers’ Smithsonian presentation.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film is in theaters now.
